There are a host of things to do in Cornwall so to explore a little about all the activities click on the links and plan some of your days out.
Beaches
There are many beaches only 5 miles from Dairy Cottage Porthcurno and Sennen being amongst the most popular.
Most beaches are dog friendly between October and March but many are also open all year round to dogs.
For surfing, Sennen is the best local beach and the Sennen Surfing Centre is a great place to learn.
Cycling
Dairy cottage is only 7 miles from Lands End so intrepid cyclists who have come from John O'Groats can rest here after the long haul. Cycling in Cornwall is very popular and is a great way to explore the county.
Outings
For something different why not visit the Gweek Seal Sanctuary or take a cruise up the River Fal. If it rains visit Geevor tin mine or the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum.
Fishing and Birdwatching
Drift Reservoir is only a mile from Dairy Cottage and is a beautiful 65 acre lake. Great for evening walks, picnics and bird-watching. For sea fishing trips Penzance harbour is an ideal starting point. Marazion Marshes are a haven for birds. A great place to watch the murmurations in winter. www.rspb.org.uk/Marazion_Marsh
Gardens
Cornwall has some of the best gardens in the country. Three interesting gardens that are only a few miles from Dairy Cottage are Trewidden Gardens, Trengwainton Gardens and the Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.
Walking
The south west coastal path in this area offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Keen walkers can also venture inland to include some of Cornwall's wonderful prehistoric sites with Boscawen-Un and Carn Euny being very close to Dairy Cottage.
Climbing and Trekking
The spectacular cliffs of Cornwall are a challenge but coasteering is a great way to see the county.
Painting
The standard of art and of teaching art in Cornwall is very high. For those wanting to learn to paint there is the Newlyn Art School, the St Ives School of Art and of course you can learn here in my studio.
